What to Expect When Driving Sedans For a sedan, the front side windows must allow more than 30% of light to pass through, while the back side windows and rear window can have any darkness. However, if the rear window is tinted, the vehicle must have dual side mirrors to ensure proper visibility. What to Expect for SUVs and Vans If you drive an SUV or a van, the front side windows must also allow more than 30% of light, but the back side windows and rear window can be tinted to any level. Colors that interfere with traffic signals or emergency vehicle lights are not permitted.
